“My dear, how did you get here?” Nurse Carmen froze in front of the door to room 304.
On the bed where Alejandro Mendoza, the clinic’s most important patient, lay, a little girl in a green dress sat, gently squeezing his hand.
“Shh… You’re having a nice dream,” the girl whispered.
After three months without any signs of life, the machines finally detected activity. Alejandro’s pulse responded to every word he said.
“He can’t be here. This is the intensive care unit.”
